Over the weekend I got to meet up with some of my favorite Kansas City people. Ashley, Jessica and I went to KC Fashion Week together. What I love about these girls are that they are nice, smart and witty as heck. We all sat at the show together and had a blast. When we left the show it was pouring rain. I mean, POURING rain. We ran to the car and I realized that a) it was 10:30 pm and we needed to get to dinner b) I was running on empty in my fuel tank and we were in downtown KC with no gas stations around c) it was raining so hard that I couldn’t see the road. I was literally driving downtown and suddenly I realized I had no idea where my lane started and ended. I naturally yelled this, totally placing Jessica and Ashley at ease, because the situation wasn’t stressful enough.
Three screaming girls + downtown Kansas City + empty gas tank + torrential downpour = a comical show. We got to a gas station. NONE OF THE PUMPS WORKED. Alright! Mount up regulators! We then made it to another station on fumes. I put exactly $20 in the tank and we headed to dinner. It was raining so hard at this point streets were flooding. Three girls, one umbrella, running through city streets with water up to our ankles while wearing heels. At this point an hour had gone by. We went to two different places. No one would give us food. ALL WE WANTED WERE SOME FREAKING FRIES! Nothing. Nope. Not one bar had a table open or even a waitstaff we could see. So what did we do? Jess left to get pizza and Ashley and I ate McDonald’s and talked until 1:30 in the morning. I lost my voice and still haven’t gotten it back. Moral of the story? Have gas in your car. Don’t try to eat dinner in a bar area during St. Patrick Day weekend. Always have great friends who can laugh with you while also wanting to cry because ALL YOU WANT IS FOOD! I didn’t get these thighs by not eating fries!

Double wow here. One for the story and another (in caps!) for that GORGEOUS jumpsuit! It's amazing on you. Glad you girls made the most of that bad luck. I personally hate going too long without food. So I always carry a few snacks with me…just in case! A gal's gotta eat, right? 😉

This sounds like something that would happen to me. (well I probably would never run out of gas because as soon as my range gets below 100 miles I act like the car is running on fumes and freak out until I get gas)
But the other parts of the story, not knowing where you are driving, freaking out your passengers, not finding anywhere to eat… me, me, me.
I even did something similar a couple years ago, I was going to a blogger meetup and I offered to give one of the girls a ride. I picked her up, then couldn't find the highway again, then when we did get back on, the entrance lane was also an exit lane and I didn't move over in time so we were OFF AGAIN. Then I drove around weird ghetto neighborhoods, ran over a glass bottle and generally freaked out. I make a good first impression, huh?
