Central Park

I really, really, really fell in love with New York when I visited in 2012. I know that is so cliche but it’s true. I fell completely in love with the town, the atmosphere, the sounds and the food. I remember thinking how awesome I was that within 3 days I had the subway system down and was riding it like a pro. (Side note: this is only because Andrew has been there many times before and had thoroughly researched the best routes.) I encountered some of the classic NYC subway music and heard a guy sing Bruno Mars better than even Bruno Mars could. We had incredibly nice people give us directions when it was very, very clear that we were Kansans in the big city. We walked 15 blocks at 2 am and didn’t get mugged like they show in the movies so that was a complete shock. I was ridiculously paranoid about getting mugged, but also loved the idea of if it happened I would be an official New Yorker. I’m strange like that.

Anyway, I’ve had this top since last fall but realized I’ve never worn it on the blog. Why? Because I washed it and the shape of it changed from being a perfectly fitting shirt to suddenly being a rectangle and an awkward length. Cool Old Navy, cool. Thanks for ruining a perfectly great shirt.

The reason I love it so much is because we were in Central Park on Christmas Day. It didn’t really feel like Christmas since we were traveling and were basically just walking around mindlessly taking in the sites. Then we went to Central Park and it just was perfect. We saw the animals get their food, listened to a man play the cello under a bridge and suddenly everything felt right. It turned out to be one of the best days of the trip in fact. So thank you Central Park for being perfect.
