On the last day of her visit I wanted to run errands after seeing her so I was torn between dressing up and just wearing jeans and a sweater. I don’t know if you are like this but I get tired of a sweater and jeans and wanted to add more layers. I decided to break up the classic Canadian tuxedo with a plaid button down. I thought I was being all creative…then I realized that my friend and I were once again wearing denim with denim. Sigh.
A couple weeks ago I had my best friend in town to visit me. She lives in California so I get to see her about once a year due to schedules, her schooling, money, etc. So when I get a chance to see her any other time than just at Christmas I get super excited. In a way, with a long distance friendship is like a blind date when you see them again. You text the person, you share photos of your life but you don’t interact for a long time face-to-face. When I went to surprise her at the airport I was a little nervous. Sure, we’ve been friends since we were kids but what if we kind of suck in real life and are better friends via text?
My fears were quickly squashed when I saw her walking towards me out of the gate, made the motion to hug me and was wearing an outfit that was nearly identical to the one I had been wearing the day before. I instantly relaxed. Even thousands of miles away we were kind of still in sync and since I had basically just worn the same outfit the day before, she looked adorable. Within five minutes of seeing each other we had done that girly giggle thing, gone to the bathroom in a girl group because one cannot break the unwritten rule of female group bathroom visits, talked about how cute each others hair was and then proceeded to role our eyes as say “Ugh. Whatever.” ala Clueless style.
