Now, onto the business of today’s post. If spring of 2015, or 2015 in general, has a word to define it, I’d say it’s the word basic. I can’t tell you how many times one of my friends who doesn’t get what it means but knows they should say it, leans over to me to whisper, “Is that basic and do we hate that or are we good with all of that going on?” First off, yeah, it’s pretty basic and we hate it. But then again, some basic things are good. Generally if one has to question it being basic, it’s going to end up with me saying it’s probably basic. Second, I’m really getting into outfits that involve just slightly dressing up basic pieces like jeans, a shirt and necklace. So I’m simultaneously working on my basic game while trying to not be be basic. On a scale of one to 10, how confused are you right now? Five?
I really can’t stop loving this basic lab coat/sleeveless trench. I wish I could apologize for how many times I have worn it without putting it up on the blog but it would be a lie. I loovveeeee it. I throw it on with everything. Jeans, a skirt, a dress. All of that. If it didn’t wrinkle like crazy I probably would be be wearing it to bed because well, it’s pretty great. Seriously, how can you go wrong with a simple, basic piece like this!
Being basic doesn’t have to be so…well, basic. Don’t be basic. Okay? I’m glad i got all of this off my chest. Also, if you ever are following me on Twitter and you see me tweet my favorite image ever…..Basic paper towels, you should just know I’m basically yelling, “DON’T BE SO BASIC!” (This is also my favorite way to subtweet someone. That is a whoollleeeeee different post that should happen some day.)
