You know what they don’t tell you about making these “easy fall decor updates” ? Um, pillows at even cheap stores cost $30 and oh by the way, if you buy one pillow then you need to get a matching one for the other end of the couch and then you need to get pumpkins, candles, seasonal items and then you realize you are in it for like $300 and you haven’t even finished. It’s like a black hole of “easy fall decor” that you can’t get out of.
My budget? $100 flat for my fall decor, which I thought wasn’t going to be a challenge. “How hard could it be to update and add in some fall decor?” Apparently I still am quite naive about decor prices.
My goal for home decor, even seasonal, is to find items that will fit in with any season, depending on what other updates I make. I was stoked to find these super cool gold spherical shapes at Gordman’s for only $20 for the two of them! I absolutely love the fun element that they add and everyone comments on them when they see them.
Here was my challenge, how could I maximize the impact of the $100 Gordman’s sent me and mix in my other budget buys I’ve picked up over the summer. I knew that I needed to do something about my fireplace that isn’t usable so that was my first priority. Here’s how I spent my $100:
Spheres: C/O Gordman’s = $20 for both
Pumpkins: C/O Gorman’s $20 for both
Glass hurricane Vase: C/O Gorman’s $10
Candle Holders in Fireplace: C/O Gordman’s $50 for both

Oh and I forgot to add, I ORDERED DISCO BALLS! Yes, you are ready/seeing that correctly. I honest to GOD wish that I could go back in time and tell 12 year old Alissa that she is going to have two disco balls on her fireplace mantle as an adult. I honestly do not think that I have loved being an adult more than when I unpacked two disco balls and danced around in my living room.
However, how the heck was I supposed to say not POLKA DOT PUMPKINS! ALERT, ALERT! NOT A DRILL! Polka dot pumpkins are real and I about did a happy dance when I saw them in store. Actually, I take that back, I did do a minor happy dance and about dropped the pumpkins. Although they aren’t exactly universal and definitely fall-themed, I was not about to say no to these ridiculously fun pumpkins.
