Meeting In The Middle

One of the trends that I have seen emerge slowly but steadily has been the sleeveless trench. Or the long white vest as some people call it. Regardless of what you call it, I’ve wanted it. Like, really, really wanted it. The one problem I’ve had is that when you have hips, aren’t a size four but aren’t plus sized, some trends kind are like the outfit equivalent of being 13 and neither a teenager, kid or someone who has anyone really wants to be around. (Harsh but true because no one has ever enjoyed 13 year old humans unless they are their parents and are kind of forced to.)

Classics don't have to be boring! Alissa wore a white sleeveless trench with crepe pants for a fun look that reminds us of spring!

My solution to this issue of it being straight and not wanting to make myself look wider than I am was to search and high and low for one that didn’t have buttons, hit mid thigh and was clearly meant to be open and loose. I looked online but who actually really knows their measurements and no one knows how many inches it is from their shoulders to their mid-thigh. (I need online retailers to just be like…if you’re short it’s too long. If you’re tall, it’s probably on the short side. If you’re average height you’re good.)

I then realized that what I wanted was basically a nicer lab coat that someone took the sleeves off and called it a vest and called it fashion for spring 2015. Sigh, whatever. I’m just going to be rocking my white vest over and over again until I have to find a new trend I love and adapt it to my body.
